Dogg Academy #3 - Asylum!

Wow…. What a day.

Asylum was the biggest event yet with tonnes of riders travelling across the UK to show their stuff and try and take that spot on the Academy team.

After observing the guys warming up myself and the Dogg Team that came to judge the comp knew this was gonna be a tricky decision. This comp really turned up the heat!

Kicking it off with the younger guys, it’s great to see riders this young stomping some serious tricks and taking park. Some highlights of the comp now was Riley-Mac Reeders, Will Blackburn and Alfie Parr. These guys showed what it took and took 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

A slight break for the older guys comp to kick off meant more practice for them, in turn this meant watching them finalising their runs, which looked like a best trick comp in itself!

The older guys showed so much consistency and style in their runs. James Skip, and Jacob Scotty really killed the park in their single runs with James dropping tricks that we don’t even know what to call, and Jacob (local rider at Asylum) showing everyone that the park was his, boosting and styling it out over every gap and transition.

However, Adam Powis, the man of the day, had a major slam on his first attempt at his Final runs going for a huge bar whip bar over the big central Asylum box. Slipping the feet and hitting the floor, the topless man had to take 5 and leave the first run as it stood, finishing after about 18 seconds.

He recovered and came back for the second run and smashed it, stomping the tricks he took a slam on previously and consistently bringing bangers throughout the rest of the run.

We then got to announcing the winners, everyone was stoked for the winners and showed great sportsman ship. James Skipwith coming 3rd, Jacob Scotty 2nd and Adam Powis taking the sponsorship place in 1st.

We practically had to force Adam to put on a t-shirt for this picture.

Thank you to everyone who came and took part in the event and a massive thank you to Asylum skatepark for hosting the event!

Onto the next at DEESIDE SKATEPARK!!
