Dogg Academy #5 - Unit 23!

Unit 23 went OFF!!

Myself and Dogg rider Ferdie Keeling took one hell of a drive from the Dogg HQ in Devon all the way up to Scotland to host our final Dogg Academy of the year.

We had a couple of special guests on the day with Nathan Scullion on the Mic and Camy Burns judging! Both local guys to the park so had a great understanding of the lines the competitors were taking and the quirks of the park itself.

With everything set up we kicked off with the 12 and under category and wow, some excellent talent turned up on the day... some highlighted riders from the day were Fin McPhell, Peter O'Neill and little Ruairidh Brown who was our youngest rider of the day at 5 years of age!! We made sure to sort her out with a spot prize with a tiny t-shirt and some upgraded parts!

When it came down to the final, three riders came through on the podium so here goes... Congratulations to the following for getting the top spots:

1st - Logan Dougherty

2nd - Layton Crawford

3rd - Kaden Bellshaw

Following the youngens we had the over's which really went crazy on the park. All of the riders took their 1 minute runs and pulled their best planned run out of the bag. Starting from the youngest to the oldest rider just shows how great everyone was for their age and once we got to the older guys who had been riding for the longest time, we really saw the tricks reach a new level. Sonny McManus, McKenzie Walker and Callum Cochrine really pulled their run together with style and finesse but like the 12 and under comp, we had to have three winners.

Third place came Owen Watt who came in with a fire run really taking it out on the rhythm section in the new part of Unit's skatepark.

Second place went to Aaron Cleland who was the one of the only street style riders on the day, keeping it flowy in the rhythms and hitting some crazy grind combo's in the street section.

First place and the winner of the Dogg Academy sponsorship had to go to Connor Hamilton! Mixing it up in the park and the street section, Connor had some bangers in the park side and even hit some of the bigger rails in the street section, all round a crazy run which you can see on his instagram!

Thank you to everyone who came along and a huge thank you to UNIT 23 skatepark for hosting out final event of the year. Congratulations to all the winners and all the competitors, ROLL ON NEXT YEAR!
