Jack from Dogg here, once again helping you choose the right scooter for you or a loved one! I'm going to start by saying, choosing a stunt scooter for a 10–13 year old can be tricky. At this age, riders can vary massively in height and ability. From complete beginners learning their first tricks to experienced riders looking for a lightweight, performance orientated setup.
The most important thing is finding a scooter that's the right size, weight and riding style for the rider.
We've picked some of our favourite stunt scooters for 10–13 year olds in 2026, covering everything from first proper stunt scooters through to higher-spec park and street setups.
What Size Scooter Does a 10–13 Year Old Need?
Age is a useful starting point, but rider height is more important when choosing a stunt scooter.
As a general rule, we recommend the handlebars sit somewhere between hip to belly-button height when standing on the ground. This gives younger riders plenty of control without forcing them into an uncomfortable riding position.
For riders aged 10–13, you'll commonly find complete scooters with total heights from around 850mm up to 925mm, depending on the rider's height and the type of scooter.
If you're unsure, check out our Complete Scooter Size Guide before choosing.

Not every rider wants the lightest possible park scooter.
If they're interested in street riding, grinds and a slightly larger setup, the Native Stem is a great alternative.
The Medium Stem is more compact than many full-size street scooters, making it a good introduction to street-style setups without immediately jumping onto something huge and heavy.

Park or Street Scooter?
This becomes increasingly important around this age.
Park scooters are generally lighter, smaller and easier to spin around. They're ideal for riders learning tailwhips, barspins, airs and tricks on ramps.
Street scooters tend to have wider and longer decks, giving riders more grinding space and stability. They're normally heavier than park setups.
For most younger beginners, we'd usually recommend starting with a park or all-round scooter unless they're already particularly interested in street riding.

What Should You Spend?
You don't necessarily need the most expensive scooter.
For a first proper stunt scooter, we'd prioritise:
- the correct size
- sensible overall weight
- quality metal-core wheels
- a non-folding stunt scooter design
- replaceable and upgradeable components
As riders progress, higher-spec scooters usually become lighter, stronger and use better components.
If they're already regularly visiting the skatepark and learning tricks, spending a little more on a scooter they can progress with can make more sense than buying another entry-level model they'll quickly outgrow.
Still Not Sure Which Scooter to Choose?
Two 11-year-olds can need completely different scooters depending on their height, experience and riding style.
Our Complete Scooter Comparison Charts make it easy to compare scooter height, weight, deck size and recommended rider age side-by-side.
